Guided Sketching Walks

Hengistbury Head. A perfect place to sketch and walk.

This summer as an addition to our Printmaking for Beginners workshops we introduced a series of Guided Sketching Walks.

Jayne and I spend much of our creative time gathering inspiration out in the great British countryside. So what could be more fun than gathering a bunch of ‘newbies’ and taking them out for a good old ‘sketch up’ and imparting a little knowledge (which, as we all know, goes a long way) and encouragement.

Kit bags at the ready! Each attendee is given a tote bag lovingly hand printed by my good self and a handmade portfolio of high quality papers made by Jayne.

Brave bold and adventurous markmaking.

We started at the end of the dunes with a good view of the Head and considered the waves and the colours and then moved on up to the top and set up overlooking the harbour.

After a leisurely lunch we walked over The Head and down to the ‘Spit’ . You know, where all those very expensive beach huts are.

A very sunny warm hour spent watching the world go by. And sketching some of it.
